I am thrilled with joy to announce the arrival of my little princess Maria on Saturday, April 11!
Following a very smooth and quick labour at home, Maria was born at 12:30 a.m., measuring 50 cm and weighing 3.24 kg (7.1 pounds). I was 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant.
Soon, I will write more about how the 38th and last week of my pregnancy went (while there was no running during the last week, I can assure you there were several power walks!).
At the time of writing, Maria has been with us for 5 days, and we already cannot imagine life without her anymore. She is the cutest creature we have ever seen and we are so happy to get to know her a little bit better every day.
The combination of lack of sleep, learning how to take care of Maria, and being so far away from our families and friends have made these five days at times also challenging, but we are managing really well and are getting great support from two midwives here as well as from a Saudi lady and her husband who are living in the same building as we are.
Besides, I am greatly looking forward to my family arriving in New Zealand on April 26. I can hardly believe Maria will be already two weeks old by the time they are here. We wish we could keep her the way she is now forever, and at the same time we cannot wait to explore the world together with her and see her growing up with us. Life is beautiful with a daughter.
